Overview

This course builds on the fundamentals of construction cost estimation, exploring various cost components such as labour, equipment, materials and overheads. 

We'll cover digital tools used in the estimating process and how to select the right software for the job. This includes bid documentation and document management to help you understand how to prepare bid documents and interpret scheduling charts.

You’ll enjoy interactive online learning content with tools and resources that can be immediately applied to real-world projects. You'll also gain hands-on experience using Bluebeam construction software while completing coursework and assessments.

You'll have the option to join in weekly one-hour online drop-in sessions with your instructor and peers to enrich your learning experience further. By the end of the course, you'll have a solid grasp of budget estimating, elemental estimating and digital estimating tools.

This course is ideal if you are:

  • an early or mid-level construction professional seeking to strengthen your estimating and bidding skills
  • preparing for a role in project management, cost estimation or planning/scheduling
  • a current student or recent graduate from a construction management professional development program
  • interested in learning more about various digital estimating tools used in industry
  • interested in learning how to use Bluebeam construction software to create estimates and digital documents.

You must complete the following courses before you can register for this one:

Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • describe budget estimating and elemental estimating
  • use digital estimating tools during the estimating process
  • prepare bid documents based on the bid report.
You’ll demonstrate your skills and knowledge through three graded assignments and a number of online discussion board posts. All coursework must be completed as outlined the course schedule and no later than the course end date.
