Overview

In this bundle of two courses, Aircraft Systems I and Introduction to Canadian Aviation Regulatory Requirements, students will be introduced to basic aerodynamics and regulations and standards for the aircraft industry in Canada.

Aircraft Systems I introduces basic aerodynamics as it pertains to fixed wing aircraft, beginning with the control, stability and performance of aircraft in flight. The learner will design and build a section of wing and test their work in a wind tunnel defining the effects of lift and drag.

Introduction to Canadian Aviation Regulatory Requirements introduces the basic understanding of the CARs system as an introduction to accessing and navigating within CARs.

Admission requirements

In order to be successful in this SAIT dual-credit offering, students should be in their grade 11 or 12 years of high school and need to be on track to successfully pass the following courses or equivalents with an overall average of at least 50%:

  • Math 30-1 or Math 30-2 or Pure Math 30 or Applied Math 30, and
  • English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2

There may be other prerequisites or co-requisites required by the school board for admission into this dual-credit program. Check with your local school board for further information.

To qualify for graduation from SAIT, students must pass all courses, attain a CGPA of 2.0 or better and complete the course requirements within the prescribed timelines.
