Overview
Dive into the essentials of Canadian law with this dynamic course. Explore the intricacies of the Canadian legal system, from understanding the sources of law and the constitution to navigating the structure of the court system. You’ll also gain insight into the ethical standards of the legal profession and dive into key areas of substantive law, including criminal law, evidence, tort law, contract law, family law, wills and estates, and property law. This is your gateway to a comprehensive understanding of law in Canada.

This program is the right fit for students in Grade 11 or 12 who may have:
- strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- accuracy and attention to detail
- good reading comprehension
- critical thinking skills.

Co-requisite requirements
In order to be successful in this SAIT dual-credit offering, students should be in their grade 11 or 12 years of high school and need to be on track to successfully pass the following courses or equivalents with an overall average of at least 50%:
- at least 50% in English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2, and
- at least 50% in Math 10C or Math 20-3.
There may be other pre-requisite or co-requisites required by the school board for admission into this dual-credit program. Check with your local school board for further information.
