Award categories
SAIT offers more than 4,300 awards to our students. Most awards fall under one of these four categories:
- Entrance: Entrance awards are for students who are beginning a program. Some awards are for students in a specific program, and others are open to students in any program. Entrance awards are available for students starting in Fall, Winter, or Spring.
- General: Awards not linked to a specific academic school are called general awards. In most cases, any student in any program who completes the online application will be considered if they meet the criteria.
- School-specific: These awards are designated to a specific SAIT academic school and program(s). They take the form of bursaries, scholarships, or prizes.
- Government funded: These awards are issued directly by the Alberta government, and details can be found by visiting studentaid.alberta.ca.
Awards for SAIT alumni
Awards are available to qualifying graduates returning to SAIT to take a part-time or full-time credit program or a continuing education course.
How to apply
If you are enrolled at SAIT as a continuous, full-time student or apprentice (taking nine or more course credits each semester), you may be eligible to complete an online award application.
Each SAIT award has a list of requirements called criteria. If you meet these criteria, you can apply for that award.
If you are a citizen of a country other than Canada and have been accepted at SAIT on a student visa, you may also be eligible.
To collect a SAIT award, you must have a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) or an Individual Tax Number (ITN.)
Applications are accessible through your mySAIT student account and are only accepted online.

Watch your SAIT email
After your award, bursary or emergency funding has been processed, you'll receive an email to your SAIT email address (firstname.lastname@edu.sait.ca). This first email is to advise you payment has been initiated by SAIT. The email will come from PayMyTuition.
Domestic students will receive a second email to let you know when payment is coming. Once you receive the second email, you can expect a third email with the actual e-Transfer link from Interac within 24 hours.
International students will receive a second email requesting banking information.
If you're unsure what your SAIT email address is, you can find out by logging into mySAIT and selecting Personal Information on the mySAIT tab. If you don't have a SAIT email address on file, you'll receive these notifications via the preferred email address you have provided.
Access your payment

Transaction limits
If an award, bursary, or emergency funding payment exceeds $10,000, the payment will be distributed over multiple transfers in $10,000 increments. For example, if the total payment is $25,000, three e-Transfers will be issued over three 24-hour periods, and each transfer will have a unique Refund Authorization ID.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.
SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
