Alisha Datoo, SAIT Counsellor

I am a Registered Social Worker holding a Master of Social Work (Clinical), Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary and a diploma in social work from Mount Royal University.

I have been supporting people through the ups and downs of life for over a decade in various roles. It is my goal to provide clients with an experience of feeling seen, heard and connected to a mental health professional who can provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore the messy parts of humanity together.

I use a range of tools grounded in cognitive, emotion, insight and solution-focused approaches and hold a certification in The Daring Way™. I believe that one of the greatest gifts I can offer another human is my attention in an environment of openness, curiosity and empathy — so I aim to listen with an open heart and an open mind.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
