Admissions
Online application for admissions:
- Domestic applicants: $120 application fee
- International applicants: $175 application fee
Life is complicated, and sometimes, you may need to take a temporary break from your studies. Luckily, you won’t need to re-apply when you’re ready to begin classes again as a returning student at SAIT.
You’ll need to fill out a SAIT intent to return form, submit the form to the Office of the Registrar, and pay $125 to be re-enrolled into your classes. Make sure you submit your intent to return form no sooner than 90 days prior to the term starting.
Once the intent to return form is submitted, it will typically take up to four business days to process, at which time you will see fees added to your mySAIT account that must be paid within two business days.
If you fail to pay the fees, you will be automatically un-enrolled from SAIT.
You have plenty of options as a SAIT student looking to transfer programs, including:
- receiving credit for previous post-secondary courses or work experience
- receiving credit for courses you’ve already completed at SAIT in another SAIT program (but you’ll still need to apply and be accepted to that other program),
- receiving credit for your SAIT credential and/or courses at a different post-secondary institution.
Once you’ve filled out the form, make sure to submit your program transfer form to the Office of the Registrar during the official add/drop period.
Grades, transcripts and credentials
Think you were unfairly withdrawn from SAIT or had circumstances that led to the withdrawal? You can appeal the decision within 10 business days of receiving notice.
For further details, see Grades and Academic Standing.
SAIT offers a variety of programs, both for credit and non-credit, leading to credentials like certificates of achievement, certificates of completion, certificates, diplomas, applied degrees, and even baccalaureate degrees. The good news? Ordering your first official copy of any of these is completely free!
How do I request my credential at SAIT?
Certificate, pre-employment certificate, diploma, applied degree and baccalaureate degree programs (credit programs)
If you complete all the requirements of a credit program, you'll be invited to attend convocation, where you'll receive your official parchment (a fancy way of saying a printed certificate).
If you can't make the ceremony, we’ll mail your parchment to you. See our parchments page for further details.
Certificates of achievement, certificates of completion and microcredentials (non-credit programs)
Once you complete your non-credit program, your official certificate or microcredential badge will be emailed to you.
If you finished a non-credit program before July 2020, use the Credential Request form to order your official copy.
Digital credentials
SAIT uses a secure online system called MyCreds™️ to issue digital copies of your credentials.
MyCreds™️ is officially recognized by Canadian universities and colleges, allowing you to easily share your credentials with employers and other colleges, universities, and polytechnics.
Do I need a duplicate credential if my information changes?
Life happens! If you changed your name, lost or damaged your original credential, or completed a program but never received your credential, the Office of the Registrar can create a duplicate for you.
There's a fee involved, but it's free if you request it within two years of graduation. The process involves filling out the Credential Request form and providing any necessary documentation (like proof of your name change).
Expect to receive your duplicate credential within 8 weeks (longer for international deliveries).
If you disagree with your final grade in a particular SAIT course, talk to your instructor as soon as possible after the grades are posted. If the discussion doesn't resolve the issue, or you can't reach your instructor, contact your academic chair or program coordinator within 20 days of your course ending. If you’re not satisfied with the outcome, request a formal grade appeal.
For further details, see Grades and Academic Standing.
SAIT will sometimes let you appeal a failing grade (F or NP) in certain courses within 10 business days after the course finishes by successfully completing a special assignment. Learn more about eligibility requirements and the process.
Normally, you can only take a course at SAIT twice. But, if you have a good reason (like illness, a court case, or a death in the family), you may be given a third attempt to pass a SAIT course.
Here's what you need to do:
- Talk to the person in charge of the course (academic chair/coordinator).
- Convince them your reason is serious enough.
- Make a plan to succeed in the course this time.
- Agree on the plan with the person in charge.
- Bring a signed copy of the Third Attempt of a Course form and a completed Subject Registration Add/Drop form to the Office of the Registrar.
You can easily get your official SAIT transcript online by following a few simple steps.
- Head to your mySAIT account and log in.
- Click on "Student Profile" under the "myStudent" tab.
- Select "Academic Transcript" and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you attended classes at SAIT before 1995, you’ll need to complete and submit a Transcript request form. Find more details on Order Transcripts.

If you attended SAIT before 1995, you will need to use the paper form.

You’ll use SAIT’s Physician Statement form if:
- you miss a final exam
- you miss a required work term
- you’re requesting a make-up evaluation or to be excused from a gradable component of the program, excluding a final exam.
Those who miss final exams are typically not allowed to write a make-up exam.
