Our facilities

Point Trotter Campus

With a $5.35 million operating grant from Alberta Advanced Education, SAIT built a customized training facility with world-class applied learning labs for Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operator - Boom Truck, Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operator - Mobile Crane and Ironworker Apprentice programs, otherwise known as the Point Trotter Campus.

This impressive 30,268 square foot facility houses the largest array of crane simulators in North America (12 in total), including a fully functioning crane and maintenance shop and a laydown yard equipped with boom trucks and mobile cranes. The facility also has tech-focused classrooms for innovative learning, as well as meeting and study spaces.

Onsite, apprentices operate the hoist and swing equipment used to move machinery, materials and other large objects. Mobile crane operators service and operate booms that are mounted on crawlers or wheeled frames. They may also drive the crane to the job site, rig the machine up and set up the machine for the lift using blocking and levelling materials.

The yard-environment replicates industry, allowing you to gain valuable and practical experience mirrored on the job.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
