Our programs
There is an ongoing need for healthcare professionals and SAIT is answering the call with hands-on training aimed to fill some of those gaps.
Good health is at the heart of everything, and ensuring people are healthy in crucial - but healthcare goes beyond doctors and nurses. It's a major sector that requires those on the front lines and behind the scenes to work well together to keep people well.
If you have a desire to help others, whether directly or in crucial support roles, SAIT can prepare you for a competitive career.
We reserve seats in select programs for students located in rural Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Learn more about our rural and interprovincial offerings.

We're making a different in the lives of others
2021 Distinguished Alumni - Mike Lamacchia
Meet Mike Lamacchia, a graduate of SAIT's now Primary Care Paramedic program and a distinguished alumni for 2021, who made a life-changing call while working in the field.
Life Saver Award
Do you know someone - an alumni, staff, faculty or student - who has provided life-saving assistance in an emergency situation anywhere in the world?
Nominate them for the School of Health and Public Safety's Life Saver Award. Nominations can be submitted year-round and recipients are selected and notified by the Dean, School of Health and Public Safety.
Enhanced learning opportunities
Our programs take hands-on learning to a new level by introducing students to work-integrated learning opportunities, both in real clinical and medical spaces but also virtually through the Virtu-Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program.
SAIT's strong and productive connections help set us apart.
I think, as a preceptor, I am passing on something of value to my students. I am passing on knowledge that not all people have. Some days I take my knowledge for granted and teaching new professionals reminds me of the value of the things I have learned from my years of experience. Being a preceptor reminds me to look at things from a different perspective and with fresh eyes.
Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
The School of Health and Public Safety strives to build an environment that embraces and honors the diversity in our community, where everyone truly belongs. We are committed to placing human rights, reconciliation, and dignity at the center of all that we do. Diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences enrich the community of students, healthcare partners, faculty, and staff.
HPS encourages staff, students, alumni, and partners to show up as their authentic selves and to make it easy for others to do the same. We will continually work to remove barriers and create a safe environment where people can experience personal and professional growth. We recognize an inclusive environment requires ongoing attention, reflection, and contribution from everyone. Please join us in our focus, call us on our faults, and celebrate with us our collective efforts.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.
SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
