Life at SAIT

Dr. De La Rosa joined the School of Business in 2022, where she teaches in the Diploma and Degree programs. Her courses include Security Practice and the Canadian Legal System, Business Law, and Business Leadership. For Dr. De La Rosa, education is transformative and meaningful; she sees teaching not only as a profession but as a calling that shapes her identity.

As an experienced educator, Dr. De La Rosa values creating spaces where creativity, innovation, and inclusivity thrive. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes sparking curiosity and fostering an environment where students feel empowered to think critically and creatively. She believes that the classroom is a dynamic space not only for academic growth as well as personal development.

Dr. De La Rosa is currently part of SAIT’s Teaching Innovators Program where she is working on a project that integrates emotional intelligence into the student’s learning experience.

Outside of work, Dr. De La Rosa explores her creative side through painting, reading, and design. She also plays tennis, swims and loves experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Dr. De La Rosa is deeply committed to community involvement and leadership. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Canadian International Council’s Calgary Chapter and the Mexican Global Talent Network, working to foster global connections and promote international collaboration. She is also a Research Fellow at the Canadian Institute of Resources Law at the University of Calgary.

Education

Dr. De La Rosa Jaimes holds a diverse array of credentials in law, business, and professional development. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Faculty of Law, University of Calgary (UofC), after earning her Ph.D. in Law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She holds LLB and LLM degrees from the same institution and has further pursued an International Business Management Diploma from Niagara College, Ontario. She holds multiple certifications in organizational behavior and workplace dynamics, including:

  • Trust at Work Certified Practitioner – Trust at Work® Certification Program, USA
  • Emotional Intelligence Certified Practitioner – Multi-Health Systems Inc., Canada

  • Certified Conflict Coach – Justice Institute of British Columbia and University of Calgary

Professional accomplishments

Dr. De La Rosa has over 25 years of experience leading multicultural teams in Canada and Mexico. She is the founder of Executive Mindset Coaching, a consulting company specializing in leadership development strategies, emotional intelligence, and trust-based coaching and negotiation. Before joining SAIT, Dr. De La Rosa led several legal teams, including those at CSM Legal, UofC in Canada and the Ministry of Culture in Mexico, where she focused on international negotiations, contract management, and intellectual property. Her teaching roles have included positions at Bow Valley College, Niagara College, Tecnológico de Monterrey, UNAM, Université de Montpellier (UM), and UofC.

Research and publications

Dr. De La Rosa’s commitment to research has earned her several awards, including the Research Excellence Allowance at UofC, the Eyes High Postdoctoral Fellowship (Faculty of Law, UofC), the TEC de Monterrey-Santander Bank Grant to participate in a research seminar at Harvard Law School, and a Doctoral Excellence Scholarship to conduct research in the European Human Rights Institute at UM.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
