Life at SAIT
Jill joined the School of Business in 2022 and teaches various Accounting courses, including Introductory Management Accounting, Intermediate Management Accounting and Introduction to Taxation. Jill is also the Faculty Advisor for the SAIT Accounting Society (SAS).
Jill believes that the power of an instructor explaining accounting concepts to students in an easy and relatable sense can have long lasting impacts. In her own classrooms, she has carried forward this approach, together with creating an open, safe, and kindness-first learning environment. In her classes, everyone knows that there’s never a bad question to ask.
Outside of work, Jill is a hiking, sports, and chocolate aficionado. She also enjoys connecting with people and building long-lasting relationships.
Education
Jill has a Bachelor's in Business from Wake Forest University, US, and a Master's in Accounting from University of North Carolina Greensboro, US. She has both the Chartered Professional Accountant (Canada) and Certified Public Accountant (US) designations.
Professional Accomplishments
Before teaching, Jill worked in various roles across industry, including Assurance Associate for PwC and Controller for Carolina University, US. She has also taught at Bow Valley College.
Research
Jill’s research interests and academic expertise include curricula development and management accounting practices.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
