Life at SAIT
Danny joined SAIT in 1998 teaching for both the journalism and graphic communication programs. Danny’s speciality was teaching page layout and design, typography and print production. A recipient of several instructor excellence awards, Danny prioritizes his students’ academic performance and personal wellbeing.
For the past several years, Danny has taught photography to first-year journalism students, benefitting enormously from the tutelage of his fellow photojournalism instructors.
Danny’s students also contribute to his ongoing photographic education as they continue to take him to places within their cameras that he never knew existed. “My students teach me something new every single day and I tell them so. It’s important they know I value their participation and input in the classroom.”
Outside work, Danny enjoys reading, writing, hiking, music and showcasing his artistic talents through black-and-white photography.
Education
Danny has a Bachelor’s in Geology from the University of Saskatchewan and a Diploma in Printing Management Technology from SAIT.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
