ARIS Hub administers all levels of government funding to support research projects at SAIT. This includes Tri-Agency funding, referring to Canada’s three major federal research agencies, which provide funding for scientific research, research infrastructure and research networks in Canada:

The ARIS Hub grants team is available to support all SAIT researchers on developing Tri-Agency applications, as it is an institutional requirement that all applications are vetted and submitted through the ARIS institutional portal.

Faculty support and scholarly activity

ARIS Hub’s Grants Team has two full-time grant administrators who support research proposals within ARIS and across campus. We encourage you to reach out for support on all research-related grants, including writing support, eligibility questions, strategy development, etc.

Along with administering SAIT’s Tri-Agency grant applications on campus, the grants team supports administration of other Federal and Provincial funding programs, such as Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), Alberta Innovates, PrairiesCan, Calgary Economic Development (CED), and more. Grant programs are often changing, with new ones developing all the time. The ARIS Hub’s Grants Team keeps their ears open for new and exciting grant opportunities.

Please contact us if you are curious about the beginning stages of developing a research grant, have questions about the research grant process, or just want to learn more.

We can support you with:

  • sharing upcoming grant opportunities
  • actively seeking out grant programs in your specific research interest
  • guidance on grant restrictions and eligibility requirements
  • research ethics applications
  • tools and templates for writing your grant proposal draft
  • review and edit of your proposal drafts
  • submissions and funding tracking.

Grant process

Pre-award process

To prepare a successful funding application, there are a few key considerations to keep in mind. These include:

  • identifying suitable/aligned grant calls
  • assessing eligibility requirements
  • ensuring compliance with the funder’s guidelines
  • developing a proposal template and detailed budget.

The process often involves multiple reviews and approvals to refine the proposal and address any potential issues before submission. Effective preparation at this stage increases the likelihood of securing the funding and ensures that the project is well-aligned with the funder’s expectations.

Post-award process

After being awarded, managing and coordinating the grant is critical. This includes setting up the project according to the approved budget and timeline, ensuring compliance with all funder requirements and maintaining accurate financial reports. Regular progress reports are often required to demonstrate project milestones are being met and funding is being utilized responsibly. Effective post-award management keeps the project and spending on track, ensuring successful completion and reinforcing SAIT’s strong reputation with funders for future grant opportunities.

a view of the moutains and stream in between

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
