Keeping it real with SAIT’s Family Campaign

When a family comes together, great things can happen. SAIT’s annual Family Campaign is about having fun, spreading positivity and creating real futures and opportunities for students. It is a chance for students, staff and faculty to come together to make a difference and have a real impact.
“This was our first chance as SAIT employees to be part of Real Futures, the campaign for SAIT,” shares Anna Kravchik, Manager, SAIT Annual Giving, “and we showed our commitment loud and clear – 356 donors came together to help us surpass our goal and raise more than $82,000!”
One of the most popular ways for SAIT staff to get involved in the fun was by sending a colleague a ShoutOut. These notes let employees celebrate a coworker with a special message while also donating to support student success. This year, the SAIT family sent out 1,194 ShoutOuts, raising $6,804!
Give where it counts
Several priority funds were identified, focusing on supporting caring networks of people across campus, basic and emergency well-being and helping students overcome barriers.
Real Students — Those who need it most, is a fund designed to help develop and deliver initiatives allowing students to overcome challenges and thrive without barriers to completing their education.
The Trojan Athletics Endowment Foundation Fund supports Trojan athletes active in academics, athletics and community investment.
The Kohkoms Kahsagahetin Endowment Fund provides one-time emergency assistance for Indigenous students in times of unforeseen financial crisis.
Turn up the fun
There were many ways to get involved in the fun and spread the good vibes and excitement. One opportunity had a staff member step up as an ambassador for their school or department as a Momentum Builder. Courtney Edwards accepted this mission and served as the Momentum Builder for SAIT’s Applied Research and Innovation Services.
“I joined as a momentum builder because I love the sense of community the Family Campaign brings,” says Edwards. “It’s a fun way to give back while breaking down barriers and showing colleagues how much their contributions matter!”
Every day, the SAIT community steps up and achieves great things. Whether it’s their day-to-day work or helping raise $82,000, this family keeps it real and helps make the future bright for SAIT students.
TOMORROW’S TALENT, TODAY
The Real Futures campaign will enable SAIT to deliver on the promise to transform who, how and what we teach in response to the changes unfolding across our communities, technologies and economies. With a fundraising target of $150 million, the campaign will assure SAIT’s continued ability to provide the training and skills that industry needs to stay relevant and that students need to thrive, whatever vision of tomorrow they’re working toward.
