Four trends to track for careers in tech
Tap into the potential of an ever-evolving career in the tech space. As technologies emerge and are adopted by industry, new opportunities arise for those entering the workforce or looking for a shift in their trajectory.
We asked the experts in our School for Advanced Digital Technology to give us a peek at the trends influencing the tech space and what specializations industry will be looking for — keeping graduates in demand. Here’s what they said.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Among other advantages, AI has enabled businesses to complete elaborate analyses, automate tedious activities and limit errors. The goal of developers is to teach AI to complete difficult tasks on its own.
Blockchain
In addition to creating cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology has already displayed its potential for use in banking sectors. Now, its uses have begun to spread well beyond the banking industry to land management, copyrights, supply chains, education blocks and more.
Cloud services
Cloud hosting is becoming a realistic alternative for companies in many different industries. Businesses prefer employing cloud services because they provide cost savings, improved security, simplicity, enhanced flexibility, analytics and greater collaboration.
Augmented and virtual reality (AR-VR)
One of the most innovative inventions to emerge from the software industry may be this one — enhancing your reality with tech. Virtual reality is employed in a variety of industries, including entertainment, art and tourism, as well as education, meditation and real estate.
🏹 Find your path

Software development is an opportunity to bridge both technical and creative skills, from testing and debugging to design and client relationships.

Data
Information storage is cheaper and easier to access than ever, so companies have terabytes — even petabytes — of information available. Just imagine your own storage needs with your camera roll, files, videos and games. This growth means more complex data analysis is needed for informed decision-making and to accurately identify trends within the mountains of data.

SAIT'S
2020-2025
Strategic plan
Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.
SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
