Five ways to make an impact on SAIT Giving Day

Members of the SAIT Trojans hold up Giving Day signage.

SAIT’s third annual Giving Day, a 24-hour fundraising campaign in support of students, is coming up on Wednesday, Oct. 16 with more opportunities to give back and get involved. SAIT catalysts ― students, alumni, staff and donors ― from across our community are showing why giving time, talent and resources isn’t only beneficial for the recipient; the benefit can be great for the giver too.

Here are the top five ways you can make an impact this Giving Day:

1. Spread the word and support student families in need with #SAITGIVES

Be a catalyst

Be part of the movement of giving by telling others about Giving Day. Spread the word with the help of the Giving Day toolkit. Share your catalyst story: tell us why giving is important to you or how someone else’s kindness and generosity has impacted your life.

#SAITGIVES = dollars on October 16

On Giving Day, each time #SAITGIVES is used on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram $2 will be donated to SAITSA’s Adopt-A-Family program for students with families needing extra assistance during the holidays.

(Instagram accounts must be public OR @SAITalumni must be tagged in the post to be tracked.)

2. Donate

Whatever your ability, any amount will help improve the student experience through accessibly supports and funds. There are four different ways you can donate to the area of support you care about most:

Tap and go on Giving Day

If you are on campus, donate at the Giving Day booth in the Culburt Atrium, Johnson Cobbe Building to support SAITSA’s Adopt-A-Family program for students with families needing extra assistance during the holidays.

Top up your coffee or food bill at Chartwells

SAIT Giving Day sponsor Chartwells is making it easy to give during your coffee or lunch break on Giving Day. Add $1 or $2 to your bill at specific SAIT food service locations on campus.

3. Augment your reality at SAIT’s Giving Day kick-off

Join us for the unveiling of the Giving Day augmented reality mural at 9:30 am in the Culbert Atrium, Johnson-Cobbe Energy Centre. Download the Augle App to participate in the reveal, proudly sponsored by Chartwells. Free donut and SAIT pride included.

4. Champion a cause

Spread the word about Giving Day priority funds or another area that is important to you. Help us tell our community how their investment in SAIT students ― vulnerable youth, athletics, LGTBQ+ alliances, world-class facilities and technology ― can positively impact the student experience and transform lives.

5. Engage in a challenge

Over 24 hours, you’ll have the opportunity help multiply important student funds and enter for a chance to win a prize through 13 different Giving Day challenges.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
