SAIT’s official website, sait.ca, is designed to support recruitment and serve student needs while demonstrating SAIT’s position as a global leader in applied education.

To help users have a smooth and consistent online experience, we have implemented these web-specific guidelines. These guidelines complement our visual identity and voice to ensure our functionality is predictable and it feels and sounds like us, regardless of where the user is within the site.

Why it’s important to be consistent

Consistency might sound simple, but it plays a big role in how people experience our site. When our site looks, sounds, and behaves in a consistent way, it helps students feel confident and supported. Here’s why that matters:

1

It builds trust in the SAIT brand

Using the same voice, tone, style, colours, and visual elements across pages makes our website feel more professional and reliable. It reaffirms that students are still in the right place as they navigate through different pages on our site, and helps build a strong, memorable brand.

2

It makes our site easier to use

When buttons, headings, links, and layouts function the same way, users don’t have to stop and relearn how to do things on each page. This reduces confusion and frustration.

3

It reduces cognitive load

Cognitive load is the mental effort it takes to figure things out. When a site is consistent, users can focus on the content or task at hand, not on figuring out where things are or what they mean.

4

It helps guide users

Consistency in layout and structure helps users know what to expect as they move through our site. They can scan quickly, find what they need faster, and keep moving forward without hesitation.

5

It supports accessibility and inclusion

When things behave predictably, it helps all users navigate and interact with our site more easily.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
