Video blocks

Full width video example

To add a video to an individual page or section that you're editing, locate the _blocks subfolder within the section's parent folder to save the new video block to.

For example, if I'm editing the Future Students page in the future-students folder and wish to add a new video, I would create my new block in the future-students > _blocks-for-future-students folder.

  1. Navigate to the appropriate folder to save your block in.
  2. Select Add Content > Blocks > Video Container.
  3. Name the block according to block naming conventions: video-page-purpose.
  4. Confirm the block is being saved in the correct Placement Folder.
  5. Select the type: Full width video or Two column with video & text. (We don't recommend using the two-column video with text on pages with a right navigation block.)
  6. Copy and paste the Src video link into the Src field. You can find Src links within video embed codes. The URL will typically be formatted as "www.host-platform/embed/alpha-numeric-code" For additional help, please see the video above for instructions on where to find Youtube video Src links.
  7. Optional: Add a Caption. This text appear below full width videos.
  8. Optional: Add Body text. Text will appear above full width videos or in the left column of the two column option.
  9. Click Preview Draft > Submit > Check Content & Submit.
  10. Proceed through spell check, broken links and accessibility checker and click Finish.
  11. Add the video block to your page(s).

If you the video isn't previewing on your page, it's likely your embed code is not correct. Double-check that you've used the correct embed code and NOT the video URL.

Creating an iframe block

To add an iframe to an individual page or section that you're editing, locate the _blocks subfolder within the section's parent folder to save the new block to.

  1. Navigate to the appropriate folder to save your block in.
  2. Select Add Content > Blocks > iFrame.
  3. Name the block according to block naming conventions: iframe-page-purpose.
  4. Confirm the block is being saved in the correct Placement Folder.
  5. Optional: add a Caption. This text will appear below the iFrame.
  6. Copy and paste the Src link into the Src field. You can find Src links within embed codes.
  7. Click Preview Draft > Submit > Check Content & Submit.
  8. Proceed through spell check, broken links and accessibility checker and click Finish.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
