National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time for transparent education and to think deeply about reconciliation. It is an opportunity for Canadians to recognize and reflect on the lasting impact of our country’s colonial history. This date is also Orange Shirt Day, a time to reflect on the injustices of the residential school experience, as well as honour those who didn’t make it home, the survivors and their families.
SAIT recognizes this federal stat annually with an institutional closure. Refer to the Important Dates page to determine when it will be recognized.
4 Seasons of Reconciliation course
We offer the 4 Seasons of Reconciliation course in partnership with First Nations University of Canada, available to SAIT students and employees for free.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.
SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
