💙 See something, say something

The safety and security of our community #HereAtSAIT is always a priority. If you spot suspicious activity or objects at SAIT, or concerning behaviour on campus or online, contact Campus Security at 403.284.8530 or through the SAITALERT app.

When it comes to safety, if you feel something isn’t right, trust your intuition. Campus Security is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide emergency and non-emergency assistance. As warranted, reported incidents will be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

Help reduce crimes of opportunity

It’s up to all of us to keep our belongings and information safe. Be proactive about safety on campus.

  • Love your bike? Lock it up
    • Get a good lock and use it correctly.
      • Use a D-lock, chain lock or folding lock
      • A cable lock should not be used as a primary lock
    • Use at least two locks and lock it up right
      • Lock 1: back wheel and frame
      • Lock 2: front wheel and frame
    • Lock your bike in a well-lit area with high foot traffic
    • Take your seat with you
    • To rent a bike locker, contact residence@sait.ca
  • Unwanted visitors will often check every door handle on campus looking for access inside. Make sure the door closes and latches behind you when you leave.
  • Unattended property is a security risk. If you’re going to step away from your stuff in a public space, even for a few minutes, have someone watch it. If you can’t, take it with you.
  • Lock your car doors and don’t leave valuables in your car.
  • Always lock your computer screen when stepping away from your desk.

SAIT’s Peace Officers

You’ve probably seen SAIT’s two community Peace Officers — Chris Griffin and Dale Gorrill — around campus. After all, they’ve been known to walk 20 kilometres a day on patrol.

Peace Officers bridge the gap between uniformed Campus Security guards — who provide routine security response and services on campus — and a full-time police service. They’re also SAIT’s direct connection to local emergency services, including the Calgary Police Service, Emergency Medical Services and Fire Department.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
