Lara MurphyLara Murphy is the co-founder and director of business development and strategy of Calgary’s Ryan Murphy Construction Inc. (RMC), where she has managed numerous multi-million-dollar projects in corporate, commercial, health care and residential construction.

RMC is the only female-owned commercial construction firm in the city, and it has been recognized nationally as one of the country’s fastest-growing companies, featured in publications such as Canadian Business, the Globe and Mail, MacLean’s Magazine, Report on Business, Alberta Venture, and Business In Calgary.

Murphy is a public speaker who has participated in numerous panels and regularly gives talks about leadership, entrepreneurship, the construction industry, and women in business. She is also passionate about giving back to her community: Murphy is currently Calgary YWCA’s board chair and a Calgary Chamber of Commerce board member.

She has donated her time to SAIT as a Women in Trades and Technology committee member, a mentor to students as part of the Social Entrepreneur Capstone Project, an Innovation and New Ventures advisory committee member at SAIT’s School of Business, and she recently emceed SAIT’s 2nd Annual International Women’s Day Conference and Celebration.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
