Responding to civic needs has been integral to SAIT in the past and will continue to be essential going forward. It gives SAIT a philanthropic role ― taking on projects that strengthen society.
What we do
SAIT has been a facilitator, collaborator and connector for more than 100 years. We are proud to work with our community to help bring together people, energy and expertise to enrich life in Calgary.
The Office of Community Engagement was established to:
- align and focus SAIT’s institutional activities in response to civic needs
- convene a network to promote conversation and collaboration to advance community projects
- tell our shared stories ― about impact and positive change through community engagement.

Our Organization
Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.
SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
