FAQs

How does the QR code parking permit system work?

When you arrive at the entrance or exit gate, scan the QR code from your mobile device on the scanner located at the bottom left of the entrance or exit terminal. The gate arm will lift, and you can enter or exit the lot.

📲 Scanning tips: If scanning from your mobile device, remember to turn up the brightness. Hold the QR code a few inches below the scanner so the device can properly read the code.

How should I save my QR code parking permit?

Keep your QR code saved somewhere handy for easy access when arriving at the entrance gate. The QR code parking permit can be used in both digital and print formats, including:

  • a digital PDF saved to your mobile device
  • a photo or screenshot saved to your mobile device
  • a printout of the QR code permit.

Is my physical access card still valid for accessing my designated parking lot?

Your physical access card is still valid for accessing your designated parking lot. You must obtain a new parking permit if the physical access card expires or becomes invalid. New parking permits are issued as a QR code attached to your receipt.

Can I still receive a physical access card?

New permits will be issued with a QR code attached to your receipt. We are no longer issuing physical access cards.

Visitor and daily parking are available at daily rates in lots P1, P2, P3, P5, P6, P7, P8, and P9B.

Motorcycle parking is available in lot P25.

Daily permits are valid for the day of purchase only unless otherwise stated.

How to pay at gated parking lots (P1, P2, P3 and P6)

Daily parkers or visitors who require short-term parking at a gated lot can choose to pay one of four ways:

  • at one of the pay stations located across campus
  • at the parking lot exit gate
  • with their mobile device using Parkedin™
  • at the Parking Office using a SAIT eCard (current students only)

⏩ Pro tip: Speed up exiting gated lots by paying at a pay station ahead of time.

Pay at a pay station

To pay at a pay station, scan the QR code on your entry ticket and follow the payment prompts.

Upon exit, scan the QR code on your entry ticket using the scanner at the bottom left of the exit terminal. The gate arm will then lift, and you can exit the lot.

Pay station locations:

  • P6, level 1
  • Stan Grad Centre
  • Senator Burns building, NJ wing
  • Thomas Riley building

Pay at the exit gate

To pay at the exit gate, scan the QR code on your entry ticket using the scanner at the bottom left of the exit terminal.

The amount owed will be displayed, and you can pay with:

  • a credit or debit card
  • the ParkedinTM app
  • a value card.

The gate arm will then lift, and you can exit the lot.

ParkedinTM app

Parkedin™ is SAIT’s new mobile parking platform, allowing you to scan to pay for parking from your mobile phone. It’s free to download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

To pay using Parkedin™, use your mobile device to scan the QR code on the entry ticket you received upon entering the parking lot. Follow the prompts to prepay for parking. Upon exiting the lot, scan the QR code using the scanner at the bottom left of the exit terminal.

Value cards

Save on daily parking with a value card!

🏷️ Even more value: For every $120 loaded on a value card, get an additional $30 in free parking ($150 total value).

The maximum value the card will hold is $330.

Value cards can be purchased and reloaded at the Parking Office. Cards can also be reloaded at one of four pay stations in P6 (level 1), Stan Grad Centre, Senator Burns building (NJ wing) and the Thomas Riley building.

Your value card’s remaining balance will appear whenever the card is used and may also be checked at the Parking Office.

Refunds are unavailable on lost, stolen or unused portions of value cards. A one-time fully refundable deposit of $10 is required with your initial purchase.

Oki, Âba wathtech, Danit'ada, Tawnshi, Hello.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.

We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta.
