Our industry partners also use these labs for showcasing new technology, developing and testing applications, and training personnel.

Encana Environmental Technology Centre
Each day, the oil and gas sector deals with environmental issues concerning air quality and green house gas emissions, deregulation of industry standards and practices, consumer advocacy groups, and achieving Voluntary Challenge goals. To address these issues, companies must have skilled environmental technical specialists. The Encana Environmental Technology Centre responds to industry needs by offering environmental training programs. This $3.7 million Centre provides MacPhail students with a solid foundation in environmental work, both in field operations and in the lab. Industry personnel also have the opportunity to upgrade and expand their current skills using state-of-the-practice technology.

FoundationTM Fieldbus
The Fieldbus Foundation and SAIT Polytechnic signed a partnership to establish a FOUNDATION fieldbus (FF) training facility on the SAIT campus in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This agreement was threefold as it mandated SAIT to develop certified FF curriculum, to deliver this curriculum to end users in Western Canada, and to establish a demonstration site for FF technology. SAIT began in the fall of 2000 to construct the fieldbus lab facility. The result was a lab housing 8 unique fieldbus training stations each with 4 FF devices from 4 differing manufacturers. Over 20 different manufacturers of fieldbus equipment are represented in the lab.

The Centre is a nonprofit, vendor-neutral collaboration between SAIT Polytechnic, the governments of Alberta and Canada and industry partners who will work together with your organization to address these concerns.

SAIT Global Communications Centre of Applied Technology
The $25-million SAIT Global Communications Centre of Applied Technology will provide training and applied research and development infrastructure for this new information and communications technology (ICT) industry. It will be a world-class facility designed to address the urgent need for skilled knowledge workers in Canada.
