Transfer Options Terminology
| Understanding the terminology around transfer and articulation can be very confusing especially when words can have different meanings depending on the context. For example, articulation could mean “the act of giving utterance or expression” (Merriam-Webster) in which case you would want to know why SAIT is providing the services of speech therapy to its students OR you could discover that it also means “the action or manner of jointing or interrelating” and then you would know that articulation agreements result in transfer options for graduates. Ultimately, this means that coursework or completed credentials from one institution are recognized by another institution for purposes of either admission or advanced credit.Given that context is everything, it is important to recognize that institutions may have their own preferred terms. And while there is common meaning for some terms, it can be confusing when institutions tweak the meaning for their context. Recognizing this, below are links to various glossaries which can be used for the clarification of terms you may come across when researching different transfer options.
