Graduates of 2-year diplomas will be awarded 5 full course equivalents. Students transferring from other institutions into programs at the University of Calgary must make themselves aware of the appropriate required (prerequisite) preparation for courses they wish to take. This may be done by consulting the Courses of Instruction section of this Calendar. Students receiving specified transfer credit status for particular courses should be aware that this does not necessarily imply that exact course equivalence is being awarded, but that this may indicate an equivalent level of experience in a subject area. Graduates of 2-year diplomas, who are interested in transferring to the University of Lethbridge for degree completion, have the option of enrolling in either the Management Co-op or Arts and Science Co-op programs, depending upon their diploma. This BAM degree program is extremely flexible and suited to two year diploma graduates wanting to receive their degrees in two years (4 one term semesters). Admission requirements for this degree include successful completion of any two year program with an overall average of 70%. The two years of study at UNB would be specifically designed to build upon their studies and focus acquired through their college program. Eight majors are available in the Post-Diploma Bachelor of Management program. Students presenting other approved diplomas with a major other than Accounting may select any major from this list except Accounting. Students admitted to the Post-Diploma B.Mgt. Program are also eligible for participation in the Management Co-operative Education program. An approved college diploma can be no more than eight years old at the point of admission. Bachelor of Applied Management in Hospitality and Tourism
The BAMHT is a degree program that combines a university education with hands-on experience and offers a co-op option. The BAMHT is a true "2+2" program. Community College graduates need a two year diploma in: a) travel and tourism, b) hotel/restaurant or food/beverage management, c) hospitality management, or d) equivalent. Students applying from SAIT are guaranteed a place in the program providing they have graduated with a "B" (70%) average. Applicants from two-year hospitality management/hotel and restaurant administration diploma programs may be eligible for entry to the Bachelor of Commerce program hospitality management specialization, if they meet the following criteria: The diploma is completed with a minimum of B (5.0 GPA on nine-point scale) average, as determined by the Undergraduate Admissions and Records. The average as calculated by the Undergraduate Admissions and Records is a cumulative GPA, which includes all course attempts. Except for the pre-admitted students, the diploma is granted by August 31 of the year for which the student is applying for admission. Final official documentation will be required. The diploma is awarded by a college that offers the “BC Provincial Hospitality Management Diploma Program” or its equivalent. Completion of a microeconomics course (equivalent to UVic ECON 103: Principles of Microeconomics), 1.5 units of university-level mathematics (not to include UVic Math 120 or equivalent) and an acceptable statistics course (equivalent to STAT 252) each with a minimum grade of B-. Satisfaction of the Undergraduate English Requirements. Diploma students are encouraged to contact the Bachelor of Commerce office early in their program to find out how these courses can be met. Upon application to the VIU's Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree, VIU agrees to recognize a block of 60 credits earned by any student who has successfully completed SAIT's Hospitality Management diploma.
