Pre-employment CarpentryProgram Description Carpenters work in many areas of construction. They are involved in residential, commercial, industrial or maintenance construction. Most carpenters are involved in reading blueprints, selecting materials and methods of work, measuring, curing and joining materials. This 12-week program covers all course material received by a first year carpenter apprentice, plus additional hands-on skills and safety training on an actual jobsite. The program will prepare the student to enter the workforce as an apprentice, and upon successful completion of the program, to write the first year Carpenter apprenticeship and exams. Admission Requirements Successful completion of Alberta Grade 9 or equivalent, or receive a pass mark in the Alberta Apprenticeship Entrance Examination.
