Sterile Processing Technician is a certificate program for individuals and Service Aide II personnel interested in working in Central Service/Supply, Processing and Distribution, Operating Room, and Specialty Areas. Certification is now required in some provinces in Canada and the U.S. Certification creates a higher quality of work and more satisfaction for the employee. Graduates of this program are eligible to challenge the International Association of Health and Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) certification exam for international recognition of their competencies as a Central Service Technician (CRST). This allows international portability. The following courses are required for the Sterile Processing Technician program. Applicants must be admitted to the program in order to enroll in these courses. Daytime program fees and selection apply. Applicants must secure an appropriate clinical placement in which to complete the practicum courses. An information package will be sent to applicants meeting the admission requirements. Once students meet the prerequisite for each of these courses, students may enrol at any time. SPRO-255 Professional Practice is an online course and must be taken at the same time as PRAC-296.
