Using the SAIT Polytechnic fully operational patient clinic, students learn how to construct and replace interim restorations and effective periodontal screening procedures. Preventive Dentistry Module (PDM) The Preventive Dentistry Module (PDM) is a course that provides Registered Dental Assistants (RDA's) with advanced training to perform the restricted activity of limited dental scaling under the supervision and direction of a dentist or dental hygienist. The PDM training is a competency-based course that combines computer managed WebCT self-study with mandatory clinical patient treatment days. This course has various components including Self-Study, Preclinical and Clinical onsite and Practica in a sponsoring dental office. Instrument list will be supplied upon successful completion of the written exam. This course is delivered at distance via WebCT for the theory and on site at SAIT for the clinical component. Students must pass the distance portion of the course in order to progress to the clinical portion.
