Sommelier Diploma

ISG Wine Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement Level 1

Taste wines from around the world and mix and mingle as you work towards this certificate. The ISG Wine Fundamentals certificate Level 1 curriculum provides an introduction to the basic aspects of sensory evaluation that are frequently overlooked when drinking wine. Students will study the different components of wine appearance, aroma, and flavor and learn the basics in wine terminology. This certificate offers a basic understanding of the major grapes used for making wine and their discerning characteristics. Note: This course is a prerequisite for the Sommelier Diploma. This course is presented by the International Sommelier Guild.

ISG Wine Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement Level 2

Advance your understanding of wine and winemaking as you take this preparatory course for the Sommelier Diploma. This 15-week course exposes students to all elements involved in the wine business including viticulture, vinification and regional laws. Students will develop blind tasting skills by studying old and new world wine regions as well as sparkling and fortified wines. In addition, students will build their service skills, food and wine pairing techniques and proper storage practices.

Note: This course is a prerequisite for the Sommelier diploma. This course is presented by the International Sommelier Guild.

Sommelier Diploma

The Sommelier diploma is a respected accreditation for professionals in the wine and hospitality industry. The training is intensive and covers purchasing, cellar management, cellaring techniques, public education and much more. SAIT’s Wine and Sommelier courses are offered in cooperation with the International Sommelier Guild. Students must apply directly to the International Sommelier Guild by completing an application form plus supplying a resume and cover letter as well as full payment.
