Selection Criteria (2010 - 2011) This program typically has more applications than seats. Meeting the Admission Requirements is the first step in the selection process. However, students may also be required to meet additional criteria in order to gain admission into the program. Students are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the selection criteria. Application Timeline Applications are accepted starting November 1, 2009. Once the seats are filled, qualified applicants to the fall 2010 intake will be placed on a wait list. Applicants who meet the program’s basic admission requirements are expected to bring a completed submission package, as listed below, to the selection session. You should not generate anything until or unless you receive an emailed invitation to a Selection Session. The invitation will provide further details about the package that you will need to bring. Applications will be reviewed on a regular basis, and Selection Sessions will be scheduled every six to eight weeks. Persons who apply after the program has been filled will only be asked to forward packages if a seat comes open that they are eligible for. Applicants are requested to provide a current, valid email address where they can be contacted. Initial Selection Criteria Applicants in the New Media Production and Design program must bring a complete submission package to the Selection Session. If you are outside a 300 kilometre radius of Calgary and cannot attend a Selection Session alternative without hardship, other arrangements for submission will be considered. Selection Criteria Students are selected based on the rank composite score of their résumé, three letters of reference, a writing sample and a portfolio submission. The portfolio must be submitted on one CD/DVD only. Artwork, video projects, photography and websites can be included. Portfolios are not returned; do not submit original works. Selection Priority Will be based on ranked composite scoring of the packaged material. The wait list will maintain that same ranking. Selection Selection will commence in early January. Additional sessions will be scheduled as required. Applicants attending a Selection Session will be asked to give a brief personal introduction and provide specific written information. They will have an opportunity to ask questions. Applicants will be advised within four weeks of the Selection Session of their status. International Student Consideration Three seats are offered first to international students. If not filled by June 30, the seats are then offered to domestic applicants.
