Energy Asset Management - Two-year diploma

Program Description Energy Asset Management (EAM) trains students in the business side of the oil and gas industry. Students learn all functions within the industry (including an appreciation for the technical side of the business), and will graduate with relevant skills in the administration of the regulatory, financial, and contractual compliance workflow pertaining to energy industry assets. The MacPhail School of Energy offers the benefit of small class sizes and hands-on training in state-of-the-art labs by industry-experienced and professionally trained instructors. Area of Study - Joint Venture – establishing agreements and partnership arrangements
- Mineral & Surface Land Management – acquiring and preserving above- and below-ground rights
- Well Asset Management – managing well and facility activities from start to finish
- Operations Accounting – account for operational costs, revenues, joint venture activities
- Production Accounting – manage reporting for producing wells
Your Career As an Energy Asset Management graduate, you will work in the non-technical or business side of the energy industry and deal with contracts, leases, regulatory obligations and accounting tasks; reporting to partners, management and government. Starting positions include: junior mineral land analyst, junior field administrator, junior production/cost/field analyst, junior surface land analyst, junior royalty accountant, junior revenue/royalty analyst, junior joint interest analyst, junior mineral fee title analyst, and junior well/facility asset technician. Energy Asset Management graduates are skilled in problem solving and negotiation, have a high attention to detail, are proficient with a variety of computer applications, and are able to multi-task. Admission Requirements Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 50% in each of the following courses or their equivalents: Selection There are no additional selection requirements. Admission to this program will be offered on a first-qualified, first-accepted basis. Student Success Students with an interest in business, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and higher secondary or post-secondary marks usually experience greater success in this program. Progression Students must attain a PGPA and/or a CGPA of 2.0 or better in each semester and pass the necessary prerequisite courses to progress through the program. To qualify for graduation, students must pass all courses, attain a CGPA of 2.0 or better and complete course requirements within the prescribed timelines. Credentials After successfully completing this program, graduates will receive a SAIT diploma in Energy Asset Management. Accreditation There are no formal accreditation arrangements at this time.
