Program Description Print Media is everywhere. From magazines and billboards to packaging and snowboards, the list of printed items seems endless. Canada’s printing and graphic communications industry is one of the most diverse and widespread information-based manufacturing industries in the country. The Digital Graphics Communications program at SAIT is designed to prepare you for a career in this exciting field. Using the most recent software you will learn page layout and design, through to printing and finishing on our high tech systems. Our graduates receive quality training from experienced instructors who are in regular contact with industry professionals at the local and national levels. This ensures you will gain all the skills required to thrive in this industry, as listed by the Canadian Printing Industry Sector Council. You will receive hands on training, using state of the art equipment in order to have all the production, business and communication skills needed to be successful in the printing and graphic communications industry. Your Career Our graduates may find employment in a number of professional environments including but not limited to corporate communications, digital and commercial printing companies, screen companies and design agencies. Admission Requirements - Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 50% in English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2 or equivalents.

- Advance credit may be granted to applicants who have completed equivalent education at a post-secondary institution or have demonstrated equivalent experiential learning. Please refer to Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition.
Selection Criteria (2010-2011) Application Timeline Applications are accepted from November 1, 2009 until the end of the add/drop period. To be included in selection, applications must be submitted prior to March 1, 2010 along with all supporting documents. Early Admission Criteria Early admission will be offered to all applicants who have achieved or will achieve a minimum of 80% in English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2. All other qualified applicants will go to selection. Additional Selection Criteria If the program is oversubscribed the following criteria will take effect after March 1st: - Applicants are required to attend a program information session, where they will be asked to write brief descriptive essay on the Digital Graphics industry. This session will also include an informal interview process, giving the applicants a chance to meet faculty.
- Applicants will be evaluated and placed in rank order by the Selection Committee, based on the values assigned to each criterion.
- Successful completion of a Mathematics 11 course is strongly advised for all applicants.
Marking: The essay and the interview are marked separately with a mark of 10. The two marks are added together and divided by two, to give a mark out of 10 for both the essay and the interview. Selection Priority - Early Admission
- Selection Criteria
Student Success Students with higher secondary or post-secondary marks usually experience greater success in SAIT programs. Progression Students must attain a PGPA and/or a CGPA of 2.0 or better in each semester and pass the necessary prerequisite courses to progress through the program. To qualify for graduation, students must pass all courses, attain a CGPA of 2.0 or better and complete course requirements within the prescribed timelines. Credentials After successfully completing this program, graduates will receive a SAIT diploma in Digital Graphics Communications. Accreditation There are no formal accreditation arrangements at this time. Please contact the School of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) for more information.
