Process Piping Drafting SAIT.ca - Continuing Education - 33-week certificate program
- Fall and winter intakes
- Four-week work practicum
Program Description The Process Piping Drafting program focuses on design skills coupled with a practical knowledge of processing equipment and project specifications. The program is designed around the natural gas processing field, but covers piping systems common to many related fields; such as, oil and gas pipelining, petroleum refining, tar sands, petrochemical, pulp and paper, fertilizer and food and beverage processing. The 33-week, full-time program consists of 29 weeks of instruction on the SAIT campus and a four-week practicum located in industry. The practicum (paid or unpaid) is required for successful completion of this program. Resources are provided to students to assist in finding practicum placement; full-time training related employment may also be used in replacement of the practicum. On campus training takes place in the program’s dedicated computer lab. All course materials (modules and textbooks) are provided to students and are included within the bundled tuition cost. Your Career Graduates may find work as junior designers in a variety of organizations including EPC firms, oil and gas companies and equipment fabricators. Duties include the use of CADD software to prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations and specification sheets.
