- Selection Criteria
- Up to eight seats are reserved for Saskatchewan residents.
Selection Selection will commence on the first business day of November. We receive more qualified applicants than our quota of seats in the program. In order to best select our students, the department will forward a selection package to those that meet Admission Requirements. The usual number of seats in this program is 90.
Post-selection Requirements - Consideration will be given to applicants with career knowledge, high academic performance and career aptitude. Selection process may include an interview.
- Successful candidates must sign a practicum agreement contract prior to final acceptance.
- Due to safety and health regulations, students are fit-tested for respiratory masks prior to their initial practicum. Fit-testing is completed on campus, and the cost is included in the program fees. Failure to adequately fit a N-95 mask may result in restricted practicum and\or limited employment. Facial abnormality/ hair may result in unsuccessful fit testing.
- Applicants who are successful in gaining admission must provide proof of the following prior to the start of semester 3 classes: (a requirements package will be sent to you following your offer letter).
1. Current Basic Rescuer (Level C) CPR to Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation Standards. SAIT, in conjunction with the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, offers an excellent course (CPRS 212) that meets this standard. The CPR requirement must be maintained for the duration of your program. 2. Updated Immunization Records. Document will be provided to successful candidates in the orientation package. 3. Security Clearance (subject to change): By law our practicum sites require that students obtain a security clearance report prior to going on practicum. Any criminal code offence may be a deterrent to a student’s entry into practicum and therefore will result in an uncompleted program, or non-graduating status. If you have ever been convicted of a criminal code offence for which you have not received a pardon, you may wish to speak with the Academic Chair to determine whether successful completion of the program is achievable.
