Apply Early!
SAIT programs of advanced technology are popular and classes tend to fill up quickly. It is recommended that students apply well in advance. Applications will be accepted starting on the following dates:

September Intake 2011
Applications open: October 22, 2010
Application Valid: September, January and May intakes for those programs that have multiple intakes only.

January Intake 2012
Applications open: August 1, 2011
Application Valid: January and May intakes for those programs that have multiple intakes only.

May Intake 2012
Applications Open: October 21, 2011
Application Valid: May intake only

September Intake 2012
Applications open: October 21, 2011
Application Valid: September, January and May intakes for those programs that have multiple intakes only.

Note: The deadline to apply for most fall semester programs is June/ July. We continue to accept applications until all seats in a program are filled. To increase your chances of gaining acceptance into a high demand program, we recommend you apply for the fall semester before March 1.

How To Apply

Please include the following documents with your application:

  • SAIT Application form
  • Information waiver form
  • Original official high school transcript (last 3 years) and postsecondary transcripts (if applicable)
  • Original English translation of transcripts (notarized)
  • Copy of diploma/degree if applicable
  • English language proficiency results for direct entry (IELTS, TOEFL internet based testing, CLBA, CAEL)
  • $200 non-refundable initial fee
  • Any other documents that are part of the admissions requirements for a specific program

SAIT welcomes applications online, by mail, fax (application only,) email (color scan copy of original transcripts) and in person. When applying, the $200 (CDN non-refundable) application fee must be paid by cash, cheque, certified cheque, bank draft, Visa or MasterCard at the time the application is submitted, otherwise the application will not be processed. If you do not send colour scanned documents, you need to forward original transcripts, English translations and other documents as soon as possible.

Studying In Canada

International students who want to study in a program longer than six months require a Study Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada. If you are not a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada, you must obtain a Study Permit before you come to Canada. If you are already in Canada as a visitor, you will have to apply for a Study Permit outside of Canada. Some students may also require a Temporary Resident Visa in order to enter the country. Please check the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website to see if you require a Temporary Resident Visa.

To obtain a Study Permit please:

  • Have a valid passport
  • Apply to SAIT and receive your Letter of Offer
  • Complete an application form and pay the appropriate fee to the Canadian Embassy or Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in your country
  • Provide proof that you have sufficient funds for your education and living expenses for the first year of your program of study
  • Provide any additional information requested by Citizenship and Immigration in your country

International Student Fees

Please note: These fees are subject to change.

Tuition Fees per Semester (4 months) (approximate)

  • All full-time programs - $5,550 - $9,375 (depending on the program)

  • English Language Foundations (ELF) - $5,200
    ($2,600 per 8-week session)

Other Fees (Based on 2010-2011 fees)

  • Books, labs and materials - $200 - $1000 (depending on the program)
  • Campus Recreational/Athletic Fee - $130 (2 semesters)
  • Recreation Facilities - $26 (2 semesters)
  • Laptop Deposit - $500*
  • Student Association Fee - $199.99 (2 semesters)
  • Transit Pass (unlimited use of public transit) - $210 (2 semesters)
  • Health Plan - $95 (1 academic year)
  • Dental Plan - $110 (1 academic year)

Tuition Fee Payment

Final balance of tuition is due four weeks prior to the start of classes for fall, winter, and spring. To pay the tuition, please indicate the student’s full name and SAIT ID number with payment. The Confirmation fee of $1,000 ($250 non-refundable portion) is due July 1 for fall start and December 1 for winter start.
