Distance education is ideal for students who:

SAIT offers over 250 distance education courses that will give you options to enhance your career or gain the knowledge required to start a new one; through correspondence, and online delivery, or a blend of these delivery methods, it's easier than ever.

Students can start today in a number of certificates, diplomas and applied degrees in a wide range of studies from, Information and Communications Technologies, Construction Management, Business, Hospitality and Tourism, the MacPhail School of Energy, Health and Public Safety, Manufacturing and Automation or Transportation.

Delivery Methods

Correspondence:
Correspondence courses are print based. Learning materials include course maps, textbooks, modules and additional reference or instructional materials as required.

Internet:
Internet courses are delivered using CD ROM and/or Internet technology. You will need an Internet Service Provider to participate in these courses.

Blended Delivery:
Many of our distance courses have both print materials and online learning activities. You will require an Internet Service Provider for these courses.

eCampusAlberta:
SAIT is a founding partner of eCampusAlberta, an online portal that profiles many of the distance education courses and programs available online in the province of Alberta. Visit ecampusalberta.ca for listings that interest you. You will require an Internet Service Provider for these courses.

Student Success

Learning at a distance requires:

  • Self-discipline
  • Excellent time management
  • Strong organizational skills

A distance education student can expect to spend at least two to three hours per credit per week on course work. The most successful distance students establish a study routine early in the course. For information on Student Success seminars visit our website at sait.ca. These seminars include tips on how to: manage your time, read a textbook, take good notes, retain important information, and prepare and write exams.
