Survey Highlights:

A total of 3,119 students graduated from credit programs at SAIT during the 2009-10 academic year. SAIT contracted Insightrix Research Inc. to conduct a follow up study of those graduates. Graduates were contacted between February 15th and May 4th, 2011.  In total, 2,109 graduates from regular programs completed the survey for a response rate of 68%. With this response rate, the margin of error is equal to plus or minus 1.2 percentage points at 95% confidence.

Nearly all graduates are currently in the labour force (97%) and of those 93% are currently employed or have worked for three or more months prior to completing the survey. Eight in ten have found training related employment (83%). This represents twelve percentage points increase from previous year’s results. For full time training related employment, the median salary is about $44,000 per year, which represents a significant increase from the 2009 median salary of $41,600. Nine in ten have full time employment (91%) and 87% have found ongoing employment. 

In terms of location, most graduates remain in Calgary (75%) and a total of 92% remain within the province. Also one in five graduates are currently pursuing further education (20%).
