Railway ConductorThe Railway Conductor (RRCD) program will prepare you for a career in operations in the Canadian railway industry. Taught at SAIT Polytechnic’s Centre for Rail Training and Technology, you will learn in our mini rail yard and through field trips to nearby industry sites. - Receive your certificate in only 15 weeks

Skills taught include: operating rules and procedures for switching and marshalling rail cars and shipments; forms of communication with Network Management Centres and Yard or Train Planners; the mechanical components of braking systems; and communication signals. The Railway Conductor program has been developed in cooperation with the Canadian railway industry and is offered in collaboration with the Railway Association of Canada (RAC). Industry Demand for Conductors High! The railway industry overall is facing a high rate of turnover due to growth in the industry as well as high levels of retirements. Canadian railways are forecasting the need for more than 1,000 conductors in the next five years. Centre for Rail Training and Technology (CRTT)
The CRTT offers modern, state-of-the-practice facilities such as: a signal lab; centralized traffic control panels; dual control switches, regular switches and track setups; indoor air brake lab and simulator; mini-rail yard with 300 feet of track and rail cars with related air braking equipment; as well as traditional classrooms.
