Full-time Health Programs

  • Dental Assisting
    Smile! Dental Assistants work to improve oral health in private dental clinics, specialists’ offices and community health centres. Students help operate an on-campus Dental Clinic providing supervised dental care to the public.
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography
    Can you see with sound? Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a technology that uses high-frequency sound waves to help in medical diagnosis. Students learn to operate ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of different parts of the body.
    *This program is highly over-subscribed with a very competitive application process.   
  • Emergency Medical Responder
    SAIT offers Emergency Medical Responder training throughout the year. EMR’s are often associated with volunteer emergency services organizations in rural or remote areas. They are “First Responders”, responsible for initial assessments and the safe care and transport of a patient to a health care facility. This program is completed primarily through at-home study.
  • Emergency Medical Technician
    Are you calm when others aren’t? Emergency Medical Technician students are taught by experienced paramedics and learn all aspects of pre-hospital emergency care, including patient assessment, diagnostics, treatment and critical interventions. Before taking this program, you must complete the Emergency Medical Responder course.
  • Emergency Medical Technology - Paramedic
    Do you look at accidents when others turn away? Paramedic students will become extensively familiar with human anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, as well as pharmacology and other specialized advanced life support therapies. Before taking this program, you must complete the Emergency Medical Technician program.
  • Health Information Management
    Health care meets information technology. The Health Information Management program will teach you to analyze and interpret critical medical information necessary to providing quality patient care, while maintaining the security and confidentiality of health information.
  • Health Information Office Assistant
    Be a medical office assistant! In just five months, you’ll learn the skills necessary to support a health care office, like medical office procedures, medical accounting, physician billing and patient scheduling.
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant
    Work with patients! In just five months, the Medical Laboratory Assistant program trains students to collect, process, and prepare patient specimens, enter data, perform electrocardiograms, and carry out basic laboratory procedures.
  • Medical Laboratory Technology
    Do you like science and technology? Medical Laboratory Technologists are trained to perform a broad spectrum of laboratory testing and procedures playing a vital role in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
  • Medical Radiologic Technology
    Learn to have x-ray vision! Well, kind of. Actually, we’ll teach you how to position patients and equipment for x-ray, fluoroscopy and CT exams; which is much harder than you may think! The images produced are used to diagnose diseases and injuries.

  • Medical Transcriptionist
    Work from home! Learn to interpret and transcribe medical dictation detailing patient health care during an illness or after an injury. Medical Transcriptionists enjoy plenty of job flexibility, and can often work from home. 
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology
    Our students have chemistry! Learn to use radioactive tracers to diagnose disease and injury. Nuclear Medicine Technologists introduce radioactive substances into the body, and specialized equipment then maps their distribution in the body.
  • Nutrition for Healthy Lifestyles
    Get a healthy career! Learn to help people make informed decisions about their health and lifestyle. Nutritionists work in corporate or community health and wellness programs, fitness centres, weight management clinics or retail food outlets.
  • Pharmacy Technician - Retail
    A prescription for success! Get trained as a Pharmacy Technician in just five months – you’ll learn to receive and prepare prescriptions, manage inventory and work with the public. Graduates will find work in community-based retail pharmacies in drug stores, supermarkets and department stores.
  • Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant
    Are you compassionate and patient? Learn to help disabled patients regain their mobility and be active participants in society. The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program will train you to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant or Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Respiratory Therapy
    Get a challenging and rewarding life-saving profession! Respiratory Therapists work hands-on with physicians - assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients - providing critical services such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, ventilator management, and a multitude of other advanced respiratory therapies.
  • Sterile Processing Technician
    A career that cleans up! Become a Sterile Processing Technician in only five months. You’ll be trained for the critical role of cleaning, packaging, sterilizing, storing and handling of sterile supplies and surgical instruments, with a focus on infection control and aseptic techniques.
