Core Courses What do you teach? The Bachelor of Applied Technology in Geographic Information Systems (BGIS) degree program consists of a core set of courses that enable you to develop a solid technical foundation in GIS fundamentals with the option of branching out into GIS specialties. SAIT's BGIS Applied Degree program emphasizes the knowledge and skills required to problem solve in a GIS technical environment. To help you obtain problem-solving knowledge and skills, the program combines eight months of course-based academic training with 960 hours of hands-on work experience in the form of a practicum. The practicum bridges the gap between the academic community and the work world by giving you an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you developed within the classroom.
