Centre for Academic Learner Services

SAIT Polytechnic proudly supports student success and the advancement of knowledge through the Centre for Academic Learner Services (CALS). From application to graduation, CALS provides services and resources designed to help learners reach their full academic potential, foster lifelong learning and contribute to student achievement and retention.
CALS is made up of the following areas:

Also included in CALS is:

  • SAIT Summer Camps where youth entering grades 4-12 can get a sneak peek into SAIT career programs;
  • Preferred Consideration Pathways: Designed to elevate high school students to the top of the applicant pool, this program awards additional admission criteria points to high school applicants who have successfully undertaken a prescribed series of high school courses and met post-secondary admission standards.

    Culinary Pathway - Preferred Consideration Program: This program benefits high school students who have chosen a career in Culinary Arts, and supports their successful transition into SAIT's School of Hospitality and Tourism's Professional Cooking Program. Students in the Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Roman Catholic Separate School District must meet standard program admission criteria and complete seven prescribed high school courses. Interested students should visit their high school guidance counsellor for details.
  • Academic core courses in career communications, computer fundamentals, mathematics, physics and statistics.  Academic core courses are part of the curriculum for most SAIT career programs and are designed to give students the fundamental skills they need to succeed. Many of these courses are also offered through Continuing Education and Distance Education either individually or as part of a SAIT career program.
