 |  | Amanda Roberts | | Amanda Roberts began with SAIT Polytechnic in the Centre for Academic Learning Services (CALS) department in 1999. She has been the Coordinator of Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) since 2002. Born in Gaspé, Québec, she moved with her family to Alberta in 1988. She received her Diploma in Criminology – Corrections from Mount Royal University in 1998 and a certificate in Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) from Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2005. As a true supporter of lifelong and flexible methods of learning, Amanda continues her educational studies in a broad range of disciplines. Nationally, Amanda is serving her 2nd term on the CAPLA Board (Canadian Association of Prior Learning Assessment) since 2007. Provincially in 2009, she was invited by Assistant Deputy Minister Connie Harrison to sit on the PLAR Stakeholder Committee which was established to provide guidance to Alberta Advanced Education and Technology on the implementation of Advancing PLAR in Alberta; an Action Plan. In 2007-2010 she represented the Alberta & NWT Region on the ACCC-ROL (Association of Community Colleges – Recognition of Learning) Affinity Group. Within SAIT, Amanda is currently serving her 2nd term on SAIT’s Academic Council as the AUPE Representative since 2007.
