Tuesday, September 6, 2011, Calgary, Alberta – The bookstore is buzzing, orientation is complete and the line-up at the second Tim Horton’s on campus is already out the door. These signs can only mean one thing – the start of another academic year at SAIT Polytechnic.

The beginning of September is always an exciting time at SAIT, but the new Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) and the Bachelor of Science in Construction Project Management degrees make the 2011/12 year one for the books.

More than 10,000 full-time students and apprentices will attend classes at SAIT this semester. This includes just over 100 students who make up the first cohorts of SAIT’s two new baccalaureate degree programs.

“The start of this academic year is especially historic as we welcome our Bachelor’s degree students in the School of Construction and School of Business,” says Dr. Gord Nixon, SAIT’s Vice-President Academic. “These new programs expand the breadth of learning options available at SAIT.”

Continuing education students also start classes at SAIT this week. Nearly 5,000 students will take part-time courses ranging from wine tasting to digital marketing communications.
