Wednesday, July 7 2010, Calgary, Alberta – eCampusAlberta has released its latest registration numbers and the results are good. Especially at SAIT Polytechnic.

With SAIT recording the highest number of registrations amongst the members, Alberta’s online education consortium of post-secondary institutions had a total of 12,960 course registrations during the 2009/10 academic year (ending June 30), surpassing the 10,000 registrations milestone for the first time.

More than 2,900 course registrations were received by SAIT through eCampusAlberta during 2009/10.

Tricia Donovan, Executive Director of eCampus Alberta says that while 10,000 registrations across all institutions is a significant milestone, it is steady growth that speaks to the importance of the organization.

“To exceed the target by such a large margin as we have and to see continued double digit, year-over-year growth in registration numbers in the seventh year of operations illustrates that eCampusAlberta is offering an educational option that Albertans want and are using in increasing numbers.”

As a founding member of eCampusAlberta, SAIT offers more than 91 courses and 14 programs online through eCampusAlberta.

The eCampusAlberta consortium was established in 2002 to offer Albertans increased access to the high quality online courses and programs offered by 15 Alberta post-secondary institutions. More than 400 courses and 60 certificates, diplomas and applied degrees are now offered.

“Our success demonstrates our member institutions' commitment to working to create an online education system for Albertans that's among the best in the world,” Donovan says.

Areas of study include business administration, disability management, early learning and child care, Educational assistant, health care studies, hospitality management, human resources, management studies, marketing, nursing and pharmacy studies.
