SAIT recognized as one of Alberta’s best workplacesMarch 1, 2010, Calgary, Alberta – SAIT Polytechnic has been selected as Alberta’s best workplace for employee benefits in 2010 by Alberta Venture magazine. SAIT also received honourable mention as one of the best overall workplaces. Judges from Alberta Venture and the Human Resources Institute of Alberta selected winners and finalists in 12 categories from among 63 qualified entries. The awards were presented at a gala on February 25. Michael Dyer, vice president of employee and student services, says the award signifies an important milestone for SAIT. “Since our annual employee survey began nine years ago, we have listened to feedback from our employees and have responded with changes,” says Dyer. “Our benefits program is constantly evolving to provide better service to our employees. This award is a sign that our program is working, and is in fact, best in class.” SAIT was recognized for its 100 per cent coverage of basic health benefit premiums in its enhanced benefit program, as well as its earned days off program. Also recognized was the professional credential enhancement program which offers financial support to employees toward tuition costs of post-secondary studies. "It's an honour to be included on the Best Workplaces list," says Dyer. "The recognition is a reflection of the culture that our employees have created at SAIT, and I believe this culture translates into a better learning environment for our students.” SAIT was also recently named one of Alberta’s Top 50 Employers for 2010 by Mediacorp Canada Inc.
