SAIT receives largest personal donation in Canadian polytechnic historySAIT Polytechnic will be changed forever thanks to the leadership and generosity of John and Cheryl Aldred. Their donation of $15 million is the most ever given to a polytechnic or college in Canada. This investment in education, through the Promising Futures™ Campaign, will support SAIT’s new Trades and Technology Complex, and aims to inspire others to support our future students. When complete in 2012, the 740,000-square-foot Trades and Technology Complex will allow up to 8,100 more students to further their passion for hands-on training. “It is truly heartwarming and inspiring to be the beneficiary of such a selfless act of generosity by the Aldreds,” says Irene Lewis, SAIT President and CEO. “This gift will have a profound impact on SAIT students and staff, as well as business, industry and Alberta’s productivity for years to come.” The Trades and Technology Complex will transform Calgary into a hub of learning for skilled workers, and significantly contribute to Canada’s economy — thanks to John and Cheryl Aldred, the future looks very bright.
