Construction of SAIT’s new Trades and Technology Complex UnderwayJanuary 14, 2010, Calgary, Alberta - Construction and demolition related to SAIT Polytechnic’s new Trades and Technology Complex (TTC) is well underway. Two buildings - the Thomas Riley B Block and Murdoch Parkade - have been demolished already. Demolition of a third building - the Colonel James Walker building - began on Saturday, January 9 and is expected to take eight to ten weeks. In line with SAIT’s desire to follow the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System for the TTC project, concrete, rebar, copper and steel from the demolished building will be recycled. Please note: There will be a high volume of construction traffic around the demolition site in order to remove the demolished materials. Students, faculty, staff and visitors to campus are asked to exercise extreme caution when walking or driving in this area.
